It all began with a single melting furnace in 1872 in the village of Zwiesel, Germany. A specialist in the manufacture of drinking glasses, we owe our success to our combination of craftsmanship handed down from generation to generation and progressive approach to materials and technology. First and foremost, however, comes one thing – our passion for glass.
In 2002 Schott Zwiesel developed Tritan – the brilliant, dishwasher and break resistant glass for wine lovers. Tritan is a quantum leap in crystal glass resulting from years of intensive research and development in collaboration with the University of Erlangen. The use of unique ingredients combined with an advanced manufacturing process, has created an incredibly pure crystal glass. The stemware is also tempered at the mouth, where the bowl and stem meet, and at the base to add to the break resistance. Tritan is used on the Pure and Forte lines.
